RO-RO CARGO TRANSPORTATION
If you need to transport self-propelled equipment or oversized and heavy cargo, then using RO-RO vessels to transport such cargo by sea is the most appropriate option. There are two options for transporting RO-RO cargo depending on their characteristics: 1) Self-propelled equipment on wheels is transported onto and removed from the ship. On a sea vessel, such cargo is located on the deck or in the holds. 2) The cargo is installed on a special platform (mafi-trailer or roll-trailer), secured and rolled onto a RO-RO class vessel (ferry) and then transported as a self-propelled cargo.
At the moment, due to the sanctions policy and the departure of ro-ro fleet operators from the Russian Federation, the possibilities of loading equipment “self-propelled” are limited, but possible!
